It seems NBC didn’t secure the rights to use a handful of Font Bureau’s trademarked typefaces. Font Bureau argues that NBC only paid for a single license—which would only permit the company to install the typefaces on a single computer - and only paid to use a limited number of fonts.

Its a pretty interesting read, and maybe a little funny. Many diagrams of the “DNA” of the past logos (taking the logo and pointing out the curves by using a circle), previous bottle shapes, design proportions…and then comparing the logo to the magnetic force of the earth??? I don’t know about all that.

I found this site, Virus Total, and did a scan of the file. It took a long time to scan one little font file, longer than I thought. The results were that the file was fine. It just seemed pretty cool, an online file scan for anyone if they unable for one reason or another to install file scanner software…check the file online.

Holy crap, I happened upon the greatest blog! They point out…obviously, Photoshop disasters. Found in ads, posters, catalogs, almost anywhere. Some of them are just horrible, and I find it hard to believe that any art director would let the images go out like that. Some of them are so bad, Im wondering if its a joke. Either way, this blog is quite entertaining.

MTV and HP are doing this contest where you can design an HP laptop. Design the top/cover, the edge of the screen, and the area around the keyboard.
The theme is vague: “The cause that is most personal to you”. There are templates to download to work off of, and they have other designs already posted to view.

While it is a one-trick-pony, nevertheless it does the job quite well. Before I found this, I would create a square graphic, add lines, make that a pattern in Photoshop, and fill a layer with the new pattern to check it. Of course I didnt match up right away, and that took a long time to get the lines to tile correctly, and I never quite got the right pattern I wanted, I just got a pattern that was good enough.

I just found this review of my laptop online. It doesnt get a bad review, which makes me feel pretty good. I do love my laptop, and usually dont leave the house without it. Its my buddy for sure.
