I have to admit that I am constantly having to refer to this page at work a lot. Its a cross browser all CSS way to get a footer to stay at the bottom of a browser window.

This is a mighty informative chart comparing the browsers against each other. Clearly IE is the worst browser in everything.

WordPress Theme Changer & Showcase Plugin is a plugin with a widget which enables us to change the theme of a blog without having to login to the administrator’s room first. This is just like allowing visitors to change the theme of the blog.

I used to listen to the Paul Boag podcasts quite a while ago. I listened to him so much that I started thinking in a British voice, ha!. I should have caught up on the podcasts at some time, but always seemed to forget. I now see that he has written a book. I dont think its totally finished yet, but I will think of getting it when it comes out. I am interested in building better websites, maybe he can help me a little. Unfortunately I will not be …

Last week, I was given the task to trying to implement the websites framework onto the shopping cart. Basically changing the template. The shopping cart is online software, not open-source. So it was not easy to find where the files were that I could change, since I did not have any ftp avalibility. The company do have alot of files that are capable of editing, and I was able to kick in my css skills as well as editing the .asp files to make the shopping …

I came across this site that uses Java to visualize an html page.

black: the HTML tag, the root node
grey: all other tags

I see why someone would use this service. For a business to have video clips, to have the youTube logo might not be the best thing, since this company doesnt add their logo to the clips.
The videos are hosted on their site, which means they deal with the bandwith issues, but the member is responsible for paying any extra fees. So Im not sure if thats a good thing or not.
But anyways, I suppose for a business site having another business’s logo isnt the best thing to do.

Looking around online for a “Retro” color scheme for some inspiration. I came across this website:

I dont like that the palates are based off of a $5o color scheme program, but there were alot of color palates that I liked, and I signed up for a free accout so that I could save them to my favorates list.

Ive been working on a new site, and there isnt alot of imagery, so I was trying to think of ways to make rectangles a little more interesting.
I dont know if they are trendy or played out, but I like the look of the rounded/bubble/plastic rectangles. But I didnt want to spend the time making each reflection one at a time and by hand. I was looking online for something free and fast and easy to achieve the look.
And I found it: http://www.my-photoshop.com/bydesign/id-tutorials/gel-tab-navigation.html
It exactly what I was …

Since my site validates html, I was thinking of adding those trendy links on the footer, linking to the validating results page. Ive seen it around on many other sites.
But then I found this interesting discussion:
Do you place validation links on your pages if so why
And I then I changed my mind

Whilst I was walking through Barnes & Noble, my eye caught the cover of “Baltimore Magazine” for it is the “Big Salary Survey”. Wondering if maybe they have Web Design listed, I picked it up and flipped through to find the feature article. Much to my suprose, there was Web Designer listed, and much to my horror the gross is $56,434!
I wish! Im not close to that, well…not yet.

“40 layouts based on the same markup, each with no hacks, valid CSS and HTML, and good cross-browser compatibility.”
This will be important for me, since I seem to have trouble with the two colums maintaining position when font size is increased.

I saw an article about Google Analytics in “Pratical Web Design Magazine”. After reading how detailed and cool it seemed, I wanted an account. So I went to the link, and signed up for my invitation, and then started to wait. You need a google account to sign up.
It took about 3 weeks for the invitation code to get to me. I pasted the little code onto the pages of my site, and waited some more. After a couple of days, I was able to log …

All right, all of my procrastinating and protesting has finally come to an end, and I am now going to be validating the HTML of my sites from this point forward.
Strange how before, not having my sites validate only bothered me and convinced me that validation was pointless and nothing for me to strive towards. But yesterday I bit the bullet and set out to make sure that all of my new sites validate. It took a bit of a while to get the hang …

I found this list to be kind of amusing. Grant it, the list is of items that I am already aware of, but its good to have them all listed together on one page.
